Many of us know local children and families that have been affected by childhood cancer. Doctors and nurses work hard to cure patients’ cancers, but families need more than medical help to get them through this difficult time. This is the point at which the Leia’s Kids Foundation intervenes. The foundation provides direct support to children and their families who are facing the often overwhelming childhood cancer pathway.

Since its inception in 1988, Leadership McKinney has graduated over 600 program alumni representing all sectors of our community who have strived to put community trusteeship into action by combining inclusiveness, collaborative decision making, personal responsibility and visioning. Based on a curriculum that combines personal leadership skills training and an awareness of the McKinney community, Leadership McKinney offers a challenging educational experience providing participants the opportunity to engage in dialogue with leaders and field-specific experts on relevant community issues.

Harold McLeod will present to the club this years Christmas Parade.  This is our 23rd year presenting the parade and we will watch an overview of our expectations for this year.  The parade is scheduled for December 10th (this Saturday).

Dean Cimini, our Rotary International Foundation chair, will share our member giving (at a high level) to the Paul Harris Society.

Founded in 1967, the Heard is a private 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and consists of a 289 acre nature preserve and a natural science museum and exists to bring nature and people together to discover, enjoy, experience, restore, and preserve our priceless environment.

Scott Nelson, of Parkhill.  Parkhill is the lead architectural firm that has designed McKinney's new city hall.  Scott will be sharing with us the future of McKinney City government and the surrounding area's building plans.

In 2022 the McKinney Rotary Club applied for a District Matching grant.  which resulted in a $7,000 donation to Patriot PAWS Service Dogs.  Our club named her Peace which is a Rotary Mission.  Peace is 10 months old so not quite halfway through her training.  These dogs cost $35,000 and are provided at no cost to disabled American veterans.  Peace will attend our March 3rd meeting on the Patriot PAWS organization.  Come join us!

Join us and meet the Rotarians who call McKinney home!  There are two clubs based in McKinney TX; The Sunrise Rotary Club and The Rotary Club of McKinney.  We have worked together and supported each other for decades and always enjoy spending time together and building stronger friendships.
