You do not need to know everything about Rotary before getting started. New members are introduced to the club through a structured onboarding process.
 
Membership Process
 
Step 1 - Submit Your Application
 
Complete the New Member ApplicationOur membership chair will be in contact to schedule an interview and invite you to attend a weekly meeting. 
 
Step 2 - Prospective Member Interview and Club Visit
 
After submitting your application, the next step is to participate in an interview with our membership chair or a club officer. This interview allows us to get to know you and provides an opportunity for you to learn more about the club, including what is expected of its members. Following the interview, you will be invited to attend a club meeting, where you can meet current members and experience the club’s atmosphere firsthand. Prospective members may attend up to two meetings as guests. This should give you ample time to determine if the Rotary Club of McKinney is the right fit for you.
 
Step 3 - Become Installed as a Member
 
Once your application is approved by the club’s board of directors and membership, you will be formally installed as a member of The Rotary Club of McKinney.
Installation marks your full welcome into the club and the beginning of your ongoing participation in meetings, service projects, committees, and club events.
 
Step 4 - Complete New Member Onboarding
 
New members complete the Red Badge Program, which is designed to help you learn about the club, meet fellow members, and get involved early.
While onboarding, complete the following activities:
  • Give a classification talk to the club
  • Join a committee within the club
  • Participate in a Service Project
  • Participate in a fundraiser
  • Be a Greeter for 4 weeks
  • Attend a Board of Directors Meeting
  • Attend another club’s meeting
  • Bring a guest to a McKinney Rotary Club meeting, social, or Community Service Event)
  • Meet with the club's Rotary International Foundation Chair.
 
In addition to working through these items you will also work with your Membership Sponsor, our Red Badge Coordinator, and Club Membership Chair to set up orientation meetings where you will learn more about both our Club's and Rotary’s rich history.
 
Membership Costs

 
*Dues are prorated for members who join mid-year. Dues can be paid annually or quarterly.
 
Attendance and Participation
 
Rotary encourages active participation in club life, including meetings, service opportunities, and events. The club encourages 50% attendance, though this is no longer a formal requirement.
Members are encouraged to stay involved in ways that fit their schedules while contributing meaningfully to the club’s service mission.
